There was a little discussion about this in the "Martel College" thread, so I thought I'd open up an entire thread for it. Current students might know more about this than prospies, but what kinds of reputations do the colleges have?

So far I've heard that Weiss isn't as spirited as some other colleges (no theme for O-week? something like that...), the rooms in Lovett are dark (because of the outer "grate"), and that Martel isn't a college because it doesn't have any traditions!

Lemme just add a bit more in addition to what jenskate said...

Wiess isn't unspirited. They're in fact one of the most spirited, and can be a bit nutty about it. It's not that they don't have "themes" for O-week and Beer Bike, it's that their theme is "TEAM WIESS". It's always Team Wiess. They're really big on Team Wiess stuff. It's not a lack of spirit, it's just a different flavor of spirit.

Secondly, Lovett is merely jealous of Sid Rich's awesome, spacious lobbies and our rockin' cool basement, and are embarrassed that they look like a riot-proof toaster. ;)

hahaha thanks for the info, aibarr and jenskate. I was filling out the college information form (to submit my deposit and everything) - have you ever heard of them ever honoring anybody's request to be put in a specific college? I know you can request to room with somebody, but what about in a certain place?

Only if you have an immediate family member who was in the college that you are requesting. Otherwise, your chance of having your request honored is 1/9.

ohnoes-
I'd say well over half. Those juniors and seniors who are off campus are there because they like living off campus (except for the juniors who get jacked because of lack of room), but there are plenty of juniors and seniors around to make their presence felt.

Twinklestar-
It varies from college to college. Most often, it's the sophomores or juniors who get booted, but not everyone gets booted. There's generally a 'room jack' in the spring when everyone figures out where they're going to be living during the following year, so there'll be plenty of time to find a good apartment before the fall. With the light rail up and running, it'll be even easier to find an apartment within walking distance.
