is anybody considering staying in the residential plazas, particularly in the newest one that's connected to dykstra (de neve)? they've got private bathrooms, which is a major plus for me lol. and how do you think the social scene is/will be?

I'm going to be a freshman and I'm considering filing papers to be in Sunset Villiage. My friend who's a freshmen is there this year, and she loves it. She seems to have made a lot of friends and is enjoying the social scene despite the fact that everyone says they aren't as social and freshmen shouldn't stay there. It would be great to avoid the huge public bathrooms of the residence halls...

I applied for the residential plazas...it doesn't let you rank your preference for specific plazas, unfortunately, but you can rank your "facility type." So, I ranked it like this: 1. residential plaza 2. residence suite 3. residence hall. Yep.

I'm staying in De Neve (Birch) this year and I have to tell you, the social scene is pretty dead on my floor. Almost no one opens their doors (can't blame 'em, these rooms are so comfy compared to the high-rise rooms), and people generally get to know their adjacent neighbors. The average noise level here is equivalent to the noise level in the high rises during finals weeks. However, I for one am willing to give up the social scene of living in Rieber in exchange for private bathrooms, air conditioning and walk-in closets.
