social plazas?

so next year my first priority is to have a double in sproul, but as we all know, those are not easy to get.

my back plan with my buddy is to be in a plaza. i'm in hedrick this year and i love how social it is, but im kinda ready for more room. are there any plazas that are more social than others? i walked through canyon point and courtside the other day and they were super quiet. is de neve any better? what about rieber terrace? i would think because rooms are organized on floors they might be more social?

obviously its going to come down to the people who live there to make it social. but im just looking for some hints to where might tend to be more social?

thanks so much, i appreciate it!

rt and summit seem to be the best. i dont see any advantages that summit has over rt, though, so i guess go with rt.

rt, hs, and rv are probably the most social of all the plazas. rv has smaller floors and only one RA, so less people. take that FWIW.

sunset village, de neve, and saxon/hitch are really segregated IMO and not conducive to social-ness. but like you said, it really depends on the people living there. none of them are going to be rival halls though.

Hie everyone, I just joined this forum and was wondering if anybody could give me some usefull advice.

I am a college student in Canada and have completed my 1st year of my Makerting Diploma. I am currently having sleepless nights because I dont know if I will be markertable after completion of my 2yr college diploma or even after completion of my Undergrad degree in Marketing.

I am currently taking a gap yr to evaluate my choices before I move on because I am 24yrs old and have to make the crucial career decissions now, cant afford to make the wrong choices.

I happen to have been one of the best students in my class too, but i am confused on which route to take..

You need to start a new thread with your question. No one will see it here unless they happen to be answering the original posters question about dorm buildings.

sweet, thanks.
rieber terrace is super nice too.
have any of you lived in rt, tv, or hs?

yes, all three.

I live in Hedrick Summit right now, and I really like having more space than you would in a hall (I'm in a triple). I think people exagerate the anti-social nature of the plazas. But I also have to admit that it's not like a hall where you know everyone on your floor. I'd say I know half the people on our floor, and it's social in the sense that you meet people in the elevator and if you leave the door open people come say hi. The only bad think about Summit is the walk-- those extra few stairs can be grueling. But the building is new and really nice. : )

it really depends on who lives on your floor.
i live in summit right now and we have a lot of athletes on our floor, so they keep to themselves usually, so our floor is usually super quiet

lived in RT my 2nd year, the floor was pretty dead, not too much action. Summit has more freshman so a bit more social.

keep in mind that some halls are not too social either... i am in sproul 7th floor and we have all but like 10 freshmen on the floor... everyone seems to be minding their own stuff and all have friends from previous years so no one really made too much effort to make the floor social... like if you walk down my side of the hall way you'll be lucky to see more than 3 doors open...

dude sunset village is the most social.

i stayed at canyon point last year. and it was horrible. walking down the hallways from a1-a8, everyone's doors are closed and locked like they are staying the hood of something.

There's athletes on my floor too! Water polo players?

lived in courtside my 1st year, RV my 2nd year.

courtside was more social but i think it's because we were all freshmen... most people living on RV8 were 2nd/3rd years and already had their group of friends.

but yeah, no plaza is the most social...it's usually the people that make it social. unless you live in delta terrace or canyon where the layout of the buildings prevents you from being social. lol

actually, now that i think about it, the layout of courtside makes it easy to meet lots of people (despite the fact that the hallways look like those of a mental institute). all 8 "houses" are connected in a rectangle shape and no one usually takes the elevator. there are only 3 floors and all 8 lounges are on the 2nd floor. so if you take a trip around courtside, you can meet lots of people.

thanks for the advice and responses everyone!

hmmmm, haha this is not encouraging at all.
it seems like every plaza is going to be really antisocial unless we get lucky and get a combination of social people. hmmmmm.

the guy i'm rooming with next year lives in hitch right now. and its pretty social. everyone over there is really cool. maybe hitch would be a better option than a plaza for next year. i don't really care that it's far away. i already live in hedrick this year, so whats another few yards across the street
