don't tell me...did 99% of penn hopefuls do this (truly optional) essay?

i didnt..lol

I did it, and it turned out really well. I just talked about this imaginary future I'm always dreaming about, and by the time I finished typing it up, it was more than a page. It wasn't bad at all.

i feel your pain..i really dont want to do it, but i feel like everyone will

I did it, since my chances already slim at best. It was fun to write though

I was seriously considering not doing it because it was just that last thing before I could send out my app, but I ended up writing it anyway. It's really not that bad once you get into it, and it's not necessary for it to be long (mine was ~400 words).

a real book doesnt have 1000 words per page ;)

i did it because it was really the only purely creative composition out there (except for maybe stanford's roommate one)

I wrote it, and actually consider it to be one of the best things I've ever written, though it was pretty short.

I did, but I cheated. I wrote about when my kids had left the house and I was pensive and thought back to my youth and the impact TASP had on the person I was at the time of writing.

That's wicked meta

didn't do it.. wrote a killer common app essay so I couldn't really show anything besides maybe a sense of humor since my other essays were on fairly serious topics. well, lets see how it goes... I wrote up part of one, realized it'd be a huge risk and scrapped it.

^ yeah to the killer common app essay thing. i felt the same way about mine. good luck!

I wrote it. Nearly didn't because I am just so sick of writing essays

^ i'm with you. but i wrote about something totally random and girly.. i wrote about my wedding day hahha

I did it. I was SO close to not doing it because I couldn't think of anything to write..

almost didnt do it, but ended up doing it. Its solid, but def not the best thing ive ever written

I did it; in my mind, it's quite a piece!

I don't think I answered the question or addressed the topic well. I used my princeton essay for this (the shorter 300 word one) and just talked about my story.

didn't do it

you know what I did? I took my comm app essay (which was about an "experience" involving my mom, my brother, and I) which originally was written in my perspective

I took that essay and rewrote it from my mother's perspective (or me as a mother in 30 years)
It worked out great

(and then I just submitted my brown supp essay as my penn comm app essay :) )
