Restaurants in the Ogunquit/York Beach, Maine area?

I just booked an anniversary trip for my wife and me this summer. Does anyone have recommendations for great restaurants in the area?

I’m looking for really nice dinner spots and can’t miss lunch places as well.

Nice Greek restaurant! Casual but not super casual, if that makes sense. We were there in summer 2021 and went there for dinner once, and lunch twice.

I will ask friends in Massachusetts who love Ogunquit and go there often.

I don’t know what type of place you are staying in (we rent a house in York Harbor every other year or stay at Dockside Guestquarters which has a kitchen and outside patio) but we go to Off the Boat Lobsters and they will steam them for you or you can take them home to cook them. Very reasonably priced and we will eat lobster multiple times a week.

I have no recommendations for really nice restaurants because we always have a kitchen and prefer to cook or do take out for our large group.

York is lovely. Enjoy your trip and celebration.

We’re staying in a hotel in Cape Neddick so it will be 100% restaurant dining.

I love Jackie’s Too in Perkins Cove. I don’t believe they take reservations so you have to time it just right. Either right when they open or between typical lunch and dinner times. Put your name in and enjoy walking around Perkin’s Cove. When you put your name in, make sure you tell them you want an outside table. You will be sitting right in the rocky cove. Inside is dark and nothing special.

We haven’t been to Clay Hill Farm but looks like a nice place to get when you get sick of the typical Maine lobster shacks. (I never get sick of lobster, however).

People seem to like Beachfire. I really want to try That Place (but I have allergies, so I’m waiting for some reviews on how they are with that).

For a special anniversary meal, I’d consider driving up to Portland and going to Fore Street or to The White Barn in Kennebunk. You will definitely need to call months in advance for a reservation.

My friends recommend Clay Hill Farm, although they warned it’s expensive. They also like M.C. Perkins Cove.

The Front Porch in Ogunquit has wonderful food. I’m talking about the restaurant downstairs. Upstairs is a very fun piano bar–with great drinks and some food–but its not a dinner place.

As a late follow up, here are the restaurants we ate at. Each meal included a pre-meal cocktail for me, and a glass of wine for my wife. We also ordered an appetizer, two entrees matched with a glass of wine for each, a shared dessert and an espresso martini for me.

The Tiller Restaurant at The Cliff House: The setting of this restaurant is the winner, hands down, because of the ocean crashing against the rocky shoreline. The food was also very good, but by far the most expensive meal that we enjoyed.

M.C. Perkins Cove: This setting was the second best, also along the water. Their cocktails were the best of the three restaurants. The food here was also the best of the three.

Clay Hill Farms: This restaurant is in a more rural area. The decor seemed very dated, which worried us at first. Thankfully both the food and service were very good.

All in all, we were pleased with each of the restaurants. We’ll be back for another long weekend in the future.
