My friend is an RD applicant. She said her mom called the admissions office and they immediately gave her feedback that she was accepted. Is Rice a school that would tells prospective applicants the decision even before the official notification date?

Sounds weird. Why would they want to do something like that?

That doesn't sound right...

Unless she cured cancer or something.

yeah i was curious so i had my mom call and she was told that the admissions office will not release decisions over the phone...ESPECIALLY before april 1.

thats interesting because this morning i had one of my friends come up to me and say that she got into Rice. she was genuinely excited so i dont think she made it up. maybe they were on interim and deferred or something? i dunno how otherwise they could have gotten the decision now.....
hey or maybe the february interim decision got lost in the mail..? and they just received it?

it's gotta be more likely that it is a late decision rather than an early one. an early one just wouldn't happen.

ED2 maybe? Do they have that?

I'm pretty sure my friend applied RD and not EA2. She applied about a week before the RD deadline. Her next door neighbor is a Rice alumni, but I don't think that would affect her alleged acceptance.

I was wondering cause I have a cousin that applied to Rice RD as well but said she won't receive results until April.
