Resume Help

Would anyone be willing to give me advice on my resume for colleges? I would be extremely grateful.

Have you searched on this forum? It’s oft-discussed. Basically, keep it to one page – only add bullet points. No long narrative is wanted. Frankly, most colleges don’t want your resume either.

I have looked at other discussions, I just wanted to make sure it I didn’t add anything unnecessary or something. Actually, my resume was requested by a college.

Is it ok if it’s one page but has two columns?

If you google college resume you can find a ton of templates. I’ve never seen a resume with two columns.

I used a template but it filled over half of the second page. I took out as much as I could but it still didn’t fit so I put it into two columns.

Your resume shouldn’t have two columns (it becomes much harder to read, and I’ve never seen a two-column resume either). You’ll have to condense it and remove any irrelevant info. What headings/info do you have on your resume?

There are six fields.

Education; Honors, awards, and memberships; Enrichment Activities; Special Skills; Volunteer History; Employment.

Okay, so if you condense it well enough, you can fit it to one page w/out two columns. My resume only has employment, volunteering, skills, awards, and references and fits in 1 page.

Without the column it’s just about 2 full pages. I would have to take half of my resume off to get it to 1 page.

Then I would condense or remove some stuff. Resumes do not necessarily need to be 1 page, but they definitely should be, since you’re still in high school.

I can take a quick look at your resume for feedback (via PM) if you want - you may want to anonymize some fields such as name, address, phone/email, and school.

Is PM personal message? Like, to your inbox?
