As many of you have probably been used as job references and/or had older children go through this, I have a question. When writing a resume for a summer internship or ultimately a job, how does the student address the issue of personal references? Does he include names and phone numbers on the resume or does he only offer them if they are requested? Thanks in advance!

Include this statement: "References and writing sample available on request."

Just make sure that you've asked your references if you can use them before you give out their names and numbers.

About the only field in which one puts references on one's resume is journalism, which is a who you know field. Otherwise, one puts "available upon request."
