Retake 2370?

Hello all,
I'm currently a sophomore in high school who took the recent March 2013 SAT. I was just going to use it as a diagnostic test to see where I was at, so I took a few practice tests and that was all.

That being said, I received a score of 2370 (800M/800CR/770 80/8 W). Because I wrote such a terrible essay, I feel like I could hit 2400 if I retook it next year, especially with the extra English practice.

Thoughts? Should I retake it junior year?

Not sure if ■■■■■…

I got the same writing score (80/8) and there’s no way I’m retaking. It looks worse to colleges to see that you’re that obsessed with standardized testing than it does if you write a bad essay on an otherwise perfect test.

Probably ■■■■■, no sophomore gets 2370 while I get…some bad score

Anyways, everyone sees a 2370 the same as a 2400. There’s also a chance that you didn’t know some of the questions and you got a lucky guess. It’s not worth the risk.

There’s no need to retake that score. To colleges, there really isn’t a difference between a 2370 and a 2400.

Bear in mind that you could also score lower if you retake.

Being a ■■■■■ is the best case scenario. All scenarios after that are too scary to think about.

Are you serious… Please tell me you’re just joking. You should be jumping for joy because you never have to touch the SATs again with that kind of score.

No reason to retake. (Unless you are a ■■■■■ - then Go for the 2400 as a junior without even studying while you have a fever!)

You can take the SAT as a sophmore?

@TeenDream - You can take the SAT anytime you want, really. I took it in 8th grade for talent search purposes, but that one doesn’t count for college. But you can take the SAT during any of your high school years.

(Assuming not a ■■■■■)

Don’t retake, getting a 2350+ shows you can get a 2400. Instead, spend the time on enjoying life, which helps write those all to critical essays. No life experiences = dull essays.

I thought that was called the PSAT

@TeenDream What I mean to say is that you can take the SAT in any year of high school (or in middle school if you want, but like I said, that doesn’t count for college admissions purposes). You take the PSAT as a freshman, sophomore and junior. PSAT and SAT are different tests, but I’m assuming you know that already.

Yes, of course.

honestly there is no need to retake it. focus your time on other academic pursuits and extracurriculars. congrats btw on that phenomenal score :)

Please see critical thinking post.

Why? That’s pretty darn close to a 2400. Almost any if not all colleges will accpet that score.

I retook a 2400 the other day because I thought colleges would think it was by chance. I got a 2400 again!! I was stunned. I’m retaking in June because I got a 11 essay on the last one so I’m afraid colleges will think it’s suspicious.
