@theanaconda I think you’re completely right too. Some parts of the SAT are useful, such as the grammar, math, and comprehension sections. But other sections, such as the ill-formatted essay and the vocabulary, don’t prepare one for college or “real world skills” IMO.

Thank you @runorrun! I’ve decided to stick with this score :)

I noticed you posted on a spam/scam CC thread (since deleted), and you blithely asked the spammer/scammer to ‘chance’ you.

If I might, let me direct you to another thread: <a href=“Calculate your chances for admission to Harvard? - Harvard University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/835055-calculate-your-chances-for-admission-to-harvard-p1.html

It’s a little tongue-and-cheek and a bit harsh, but I think it’s appropriate:

More important than your SAT score, I think, is your high-level, critical thinking skills. Those skills will be made apparent by how you are presented in your application by you and your recommenders.

Sincerely, best of luck in your college search.

Hmm. I see your point @arwarw, but CC is a great tool for advice too. I know several people from forums who have “supposedly” made it into the dream schools of their choice, even Harvard. I admit that I do seek self-assurance, but it’s also helped me make decisions such as not to take the SAT again. But yes, I totally see what you are saying, and thank you for that thread :)

.

Any more opinions?

You, sir, are going to go a long way. And you definitely do not need to retake the SAT.

Thank you so much @Someone007! Also, I was thinking of targeting some full rides from other universities, and I came upon this handy-dandy list.

<a href=“Competitive Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1461983-competitive-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-p1.html

I want to major in pre-med and then specialize in pathology or neurology at UT Southwestern. Could somebody please help me decide which among the colleges on the list are the most prestigious? That is the one thing I’m targeting- prestige. I know that I will love whatever college I go to, so it all really comes down to which ones are the most known and highly regarded. Thanks y’all! :)

Bumpity bump…

Don’t be a grade grubber at this point, if you take the SAT against your grade will probably go up 10 points, MAYBE 20 and that will probably make no impact on your admissions. You are an excellent candidate.

@truthandmercy lol when I said privilege I didn’t mean reach, I meant parental connections. I’m assuming you at least got your first few opportunities (in middle school???) through your parents or family or friends, but I could be wrong. This is just from curiosity case of course,
A few years ago this girl from mysxjook got into Harvard with relatively weak EC’s and her most notable thing being research and a paper that her parents hot for her. I think you’re fine. Also, on the note of retaking the sat, if you’re Asian you might want to try for that 2300 because really 2300 for an Asian is like 2200 for a white and below 2300 for Asians can look weak.

HYPaccepted and OP are straight bosses.

@theanaconda Thanks! I’ve decided to go ahead and let it be for now to focus on my GPA. And no, I started research in 9th grade :P
