Should I retake a 750 on SAT II Math 2C? I'm aiming for HYPSM.

No. Do something productive.

Unless you want to do something in math or science, no need to do it. Rule of thumb is, if your SAT 2 subj test score is above a 700 its good

I want to major in biochem or comp sci, if that helps.

If you really want to, then go ahead. I personally wuould spend the time on something more productive.

Better off working on the essay for college than studying for at most 50 point improvement

I’m a sophomore, so I don’t have to worry about essays now lol

Only if you think you can get an 800. Most people don’t take it this early, they usually wait for the May or June test date of the year they take Precalculus or its equivalent. Math II is the easiest subject test to get an 800 on, but getting an 800 instead of a 750 isn’t that much of a boost.

If you are aiming for those top schools, then yes. I do not want to sound cocky or arrogant, but getting 800 on Math II should be a breeze (if you pay attention in school and practice). Not getting 800 would put you at a disadvantage, considering many top applicants ace it.

Has the Math Level II Test been getting easier? See College Board shows you the score and the percentile. The percentile I got was much lower than what was shown for my score on many of the charts. Perhaps because I took it in October, when most people take it for the second time? Will the percentile be sent?

no XD certainly not easier…not based on December SAT 2 math test, no.

@SteelTrapMindset, I’m actually not taking pre-calculus. I skipped pre-cal and went straight to self studying AP Calculus BC. I find calculus comes easily to me; I basically taught myself pre-cal through Barron’s.

@AnyFutureAhead, I can’t say. It was my first time taking it, but from what I’ve seen on other threads, I think December’s one was harder than usual.

If you want to improve your score, I suggest using the Barron’s Math Level 2 prep book. It was SO helpful

I got 640-740 on Barron’s, but only 750 on the actual thing.

Even if you use Barron’s theres no guarantee you’ll get an 800. I used a book very similar to it (John Chung’s Sat 2 math prep book); I compared the tests in both books and they were similar in terms of being a lot more dificult than the actual exam.

I studied hard from the John Chung book and it said I only got a 740, which I still think is an error unless I see the score report tomorrow.

As long as you excel at math in school, IMO colleges wont really care. Just do well on the other subject tests

If I got a 5 on AP Calculus BC, would that make up for this? Also, I got a 770 on Bio; is that considered good?

Youre only a sophomore and in AP Calc BC?? You took AP Calc AB as a freshman? Jesus

Anyways yes, it probably would more than “make up” for it considering many seniors only get to AP Calc AB before graduating and most of them dont score 5’s.

Does the score report usually come with the test and the correct answers? I had that impression but did not see it in my Math Level II Subject test.

I would retake it. If I were a college, I would want to see an 800 from a student taking advanced calculus as a sophomore. It’s always nice to apply to college knowing that you submitted the best score possible. If they reject you it wasn’t for the scores! If you practice with the Barron’s and are scoring 760 and up then an 800 shouldn’t be a problem. In short, yes retake it, but practice first so you ace it!
