Here are my stats:
C: 31
E: 31
M: 25
R: 34
S: 33

I suck at math. I am currently taking AP Calc. I have gotten all A's or B+ in honors level math. I just cannot do standardized testing math.

I am applying ED to Cornell ILR. Do I have a shot despite my ACT scores?

I have ok ECs, I was a US Senate Page. I own my own import business and I have a small investment in a hotel in NYC. I came from a family of illiterate immigrants. I grew up in my parents' take out restaurant.

How many times have you taken the ACT? Have your math scores changed at all?

@Erin’s Dad have taken it twice. The first time I got a C 25 with a math score of 26. All of my other sections went up a lot.

I think you have a shot for sure. The fact that you’re taking AP Calc shows you really can do math although you may not test well. And your story sounds amazing. Focus in your application on that aspect of your life - everything that you’ve achieved despite growing up with the circumstances you describe - and you can consider that a ‘hook’. Your story will be especially appealing to admissions in ILR!

@nynightowl I am hoping that my GPA, IB Diploma Candidate, Recommendations, and Essay will be enough to outweigh my 31 ACT. The teachings of ILR is basically everything I have experienced in my life so far. Thanks for the encouragement!

What would my chances of getting in ED?

^ Try the Chances forum for that question.
