So I recently found out that my score was a five on the ap chem exam, and I was really surprised. I thought I would get a three and not be able to claim credit, so I signed up for chem 301. I got a great professor, and I'm a chem major so I don't know if I should take the class. I want to save time and money and possibly take a higher level course, but am not sure. Should I retake the chemistry classes because I'm a chem major, or claim credit for 301 302 and 204 and save money?

First of all - congratulations! FWIW - as a Chem Major, you should take the Chem class at college. As good as AP classes can be in High School, they are no match for real college courses at solid schools. If chem will be you career, you don’t want any gaps. (JMHO).

congrats! And, i agree with glido in that AP classes are not really equivalent to College classes. Also, if you’re not confident about Chem, since you said you expected a 3, then maybe take the college class.

My D is in same boat…she is going to retake (because she is premed and wants extra instruction)
