Because my GRE scores for 2007 are too low, I will retake the test to apply for 2008. Should I take it before or after September 2007? Do you believe I will have more chances to improve my figures in the current or in the new format?
Any comment is welcome.

When I took the test last month, the additional questions that popped up at the end were supposed to resemble proposed stuff for next year, and they were much, much easier IMHO. However, for admissions, GRE is mainly about percentiles, not raw scores, so this should not matter a great deal.

You can, however, quite easily bump your score up a good 10%. I didn't practice at all as I applied so late and didn't think it was a big deal. I got 94 on Q and 85 on V. I'm not sure I could have improved Q a lot more, as when you're hitting that level, one question can always throw you, but I think if I revised some of the word lists, my V would definitely improve. It's just tricky little words that you can't derive and have to know that make the difference between a good and an amazing score. So sure, take it again, but take it early next year with the old system and then if you mess up, take it again with the new one later on. This way you've got two chances.

agreed, the experimental section at the end of the test seemed MUCH easier, so i think you might be able to get a higher raw score after the changes, but the percentile score should be similar.
i'd study some and see how you're scoring on practice tests - if you start hitting above 620 on verbal and 720 on quant, i'd take them before the changes go in place.
