Hi all. I just received my March scores and they make me want to throw up. My goal was 2200 but I scored 1850. I need to retake this, but I don't know whether to do it in May or June? Because I'm afraid of screwing up my subject tests too, and not having the chance to retake those too? I have IB exams in May, and I'm away fro a whole week in April for a school trip, so I'm not sure if I should take the risk and rewrite in May, with only 3 weeks of studying, or to study really hard and rewrite in June?? I really need help deciding given that the registration deadline for the May test is April 4. I was away all spring break for missions work so I did not have the chance to re register?

Unless you have the money, I’d suggest you take it in June. My parents can’t afford to flesh out $51 more than twice so I’m taking it in June so I don’t screw my last chance over. If you can afford to take it three times, I’d take it May and maybe June or October.

@beerme I can’t it has been planned since last year ;_; I can’t believe I thought that I had a bunch of time for the SATs, and now that my time to do stuff has arrived, I’m having a panic attack… F#$%^ me

I’m in the same boat as you. First thing’s first, ask your parents how many times you can take the test (financially). Second, ask YOURSELF how many times you can take the test. We have May, June, and October. Don’t risk it with May. I was aiming for the exact same score, and I didn’t even crack 2000 either. sigh. My best advice is to just give yourself a break. Something I noticed during my odyssey of practice tests is that after a certain point, my scores started to go down. We’ve burnt ourselves out with test prep and we NEED A BREAK! Please, give yourself a break and don’t panic! Well, we’re all panicking, but we need to take a step back. Retaking in June is a possibility, and school just ending would be a nice relief, but think about the months leading up to that. May will be taken up with AP exams and stressful schoolwork as well, so how much test prep can we really fit in? I think our best bet is October. Yes, it’s very scary, and if you’re planning on applying to any schools EA or ED, your score will be released only a few days before applications are due, but June is just not a realistic time to retake. It doesn’t give us enough time to calm down, move on from our test scores, and start prepping (and on top of that, keep up with coursework and study for the SAT II’s!).

Just think: October gives us 7 months to prep. 7 months! That gives us ample time to prep and further grow our confidence in filling in bubbles for almost 4 hours on a Saturday morning, but more importantly, it gives us time to rest. We need to cut ourselves some slack and take it slow; cramming is always pale in comparison to months of prep. I’d love to offer any other advice if needed. Good luck! :)

@beyoncebeyoffce thanks for your encouragement! I am just so afraid that october is cutting it too close, plus I still need to take subject tests… i’ll definitely keep your advice in mind! seriously, thanks for being so encouraging; im still feeling pretty bummed about my scores…

If by cutting it too close, do you mean too close to early application? I talked to my school’s college counselor and she said that sending scores isn’t a problem (I was so afraid that I would have to submit my first scores because the scores will be released only a couple days before the November 1st deadline!) but she said that since you can send scores directly to colleges once your scores are released, it’s not a problem!
