retake or not??

I know this question probably has been asked before, but what scores do applicants need to have in order to be competitive to elective colleges?

I got 2210 in the January SAT.
CR 730
M 770
W 710

Should I retake?

Thank you in advance. =)

I don’t think you NEED to but it can’t hurt.

What about me? I got 2250 - 790 CR, 770 W and 690 M

@hopefullybrown 15:
wouldn’t it hurt if I get a lower mark?

@putturani:
My target was 2250. So I wouldn’t retake if I were you. That being said, if you apply to colleges such as MIT and Caltech, the 690 maths could hurt.

By the way, this is my first attempt. if it makes any difference to things.

I say retake. I’ve seen the statistics (ex. Williams, Amherst, etc.) and 2300s seem like they get accepted more often than 2200s. That, and a higher score can’t really hurt.
