So on Jan's SAT, I got

670 CR
800 Math
800 W (11 E 80/80 MC)
for a 2270

Would retaking and possibly getting a higher score in reading be beneficial enough??
Or is it just me that 670 seems kind of low compared to others.
I know I can get a little better than that, 700 at least.

the downfall to this is, I thought I got kinda lucky on Writing so I have a feeling my sitting score is gonna be less the next time I take the SAT in March.

any advice?

It depends. Where do you want to go? If it’s an elite college, that 670 may stick out. Also, do you have the time/are you willing to put in the extra effort to study harder? Finally, do you think you did as well as you could have or did you underperform on CR?

Also, since many colleges only look at the highest score, it won’t matter if writing drops a bit (just don’t let it implode).

Keep in mind that colleges have different policies concerning the SAT. Some require you to send all scores, others take a look only on your highest score (single date) and others allow you superscore.

If you’re asking whether it would be beneficial for you, look at the colleges’ your interested in websites. If you don’t know which college you’re interested in, I would work on my CR if I were you since you seem to be stable in Math and Writing.

Most colleges give you the option to superscore. With that piece of information in mind, you can go into the next trial, focusing on CR alone, and not really exerting an effort in the other sections (Just don’t let them go below…say…650). Now the real question is, are you willing to put in the effort once more to restudy for Critical Reading alone? Are you willing to hit the vocab lists, and do all the arcane passages, for a chance at a 30 point increase? If your premeditated answer is yes (not the one blinded with initial enthusiasm), then go ahead, take the exam again.
