Retake SAT Math II?

Hi CC!

I’m currently a junior and just got back my December SAT math 2 score. I know most people get 800s, but I didn’t and instead got a 780 :(( (which is in the 71st percentile)

I want to major in computer science/STEM and was wondering if this score was too low for my major and schools I’m aiming for such as the Ivy League and MIT, especially because I’m an ORM and did really really bad on my PSAT lol.

I’m planning to take the chemistry subject test in May/June and if I do retake, I’ll probably take it at the same time. I’m pretty sure (hopefully??) that I can get an 800 this time, but I don’t know if it’s worth the extra money.

I was hoping for some extra input, so do y’all think I should retake the subject test?

Thanks for all your help!

No. A 780 in Math 2 is fine and not worth retaking.

Focus on your application and essays.

^rt, it’s absolutely not worth retaking. Just make sure you do well on chem; I got a 710 on my chem subject test but got an 800 on my math ii and i go to an ivy, so i’d say probably aim higher than a 710? gl tho

@Hamurtle @eelaynem thanks for the input!:slight_smile:
