Retake SAT??

I'm a junior and I just got back SAT scores today...

Math- 720
Verbal- 760
Writing- 800

Problem is, I'm in Calculus BC and math club, so would it be strange if my math score was not higher? Should I take the SAT again for the sole purpose of raising my math score?

Also, I'm also planning to take the Math II subject test- so if I do really well on that will it "cancel out" my SAT math score a little?

thanks!

I think if you can keep your writing score to an 800, you should retake

Yes, instanticedtea- my s was in similar situation...actually scored 800 Math-but 690 verbal.
GC, and an admissions rep from a top LAC, both advised him to try to hit the 1500 level, because it is an important barrier, not only for admission, but merit money, too.

BTW- he scored 1500 fall his senior year. They both said he had nothing to lose, and much to gain.

Same for you, and given Math is your strength, should be a fun challenge :)

naidu - not sure why you ask if he can maintain the 800 writing score. That is already in the bank, schools will take the highest scores, so that isn't something instant should fret about.

I asked the same thing regarding my s, with the 800 Math, and both admissions rep and GC, said----go for it!!!! It proved great advice!

Thank you for your advice! Congrats to your son! So there's nothing to lose at all if I take it again?

SJCM, I don't think all schools take the highest of each test. Some use the highest from a single sitting.

u got a 2280....leave it

erin'd dad ...true ..definitely explore that instant, but I believe there are very few, but if it is your dream school, then that would be an issue.

Instant check that out....erin's dad do you know which schools they are?

coincidence- just found this post on another thread..someone called these schools to find out if they take the highest scores from different sittings- apparently, referred to as super scoring (new term to me :)
Personally, from what I found after most phone calls, is that most private schools superscore both ACT/SAT, while no public schools superscore the ACT or SAT.

Here's what I found from a few phone calls:

WashU - (314) 935-6000 - Yes
Emory - 404.727.6036 - Yes
Cornell - 607 255-5241 - Yes
CMU - 412-268-2082 - Yes
UMich - No
BC - (617) 552-3100 - Yes
USC - No
UT - 512-475-7399 - No
Lehigh - 610.758.3100 - Yes
Case Western
MSU - (517) 355-8332 - No
NYU - (212) 998-4500 - Yes
"

Thank you for all your help! I'm glad that most private schools "super score" the SAT :) I think I might take it again senior year.

I am certain that USC superscores the SAT.

A rule of thumb is that most private schools superscore the SAT but not the ACT. Most public schools superscore neither.
