Son took SAT and scored 800 CR, 800 W, 670 Math. Highest SAT II scores are 800 Biology and 800 Math IIc. Got a 5 on the Calc AB AP test. So the 670 Math score is low for him. Has high GPA, toughest classes, captain of state championship team, good ECs, private competitive high school. Should he retake SAT in October? Seems that colleges will see other math scores and conclude that it is unusually low. Risk of retaking is a "cheapening" of the 800s. Opinions?

What major might he want to pursue?

Lots of colleges would count only the highest scores from each section if he took the SAT again. Check with the colleges.

Unless the schools he's looking at won't care too much about math, I would suggest retaking after some prep.

Thanks. I know they say they only count the highest of each section. But it is likely that he won't score teo 800s again. Don't you think the colleges will look at the SATII score and AP and conclude that he is a very strong math student?

He is undecided about a major. Interested in a LAC.

Well the 800 in CR and W will definitely look good to a LAC.
