Retake? What's the REAL DEAL with ED writing section

Hey everyone, I took the May SAT and got the following
Math: 760
Verbal:780
Writing:650
these scores are strange to say the least, at least to me. Though they add up to a respectable 1540/1600, they also add up to a dubious 2190 on the 2400 scale. I expect to get an 800 on Math II, so I'm not particularly worried about math, and verbal is good enough for me. The writing, though, is particularly lower... I got a 75 on writing on the PSAT and 760's on practice tests; I don't really know what happened here. Should I retake considering that I want to go Princeton ED? Keep in mind that my verbal score could definitely drop on the retake. The math will be increased negligibly (like 20-40 pts)

I really wanna know what everyone thinks!

don't worry about it. remember, PSATs and practice tests are TERRIBLE score indicators (just look at all the stories on CC). your essays are what really count as writing samples. remember, test scores are only a fraction of the package, and the writing subscore is an even SMALLER fraction, it's worth very little as it's new. so chill. write good essays, prove em wrong!

same thing happened to my writing section... I had a 78 PSAT, and mid 700 practice tests, and ended up with a 640... my other sections were close to PSAT, and expected scores though, so you can never tell.
I'm retaking mostly for writing, but you probably don't need to since your other scores were good.

It's the essay that screws everyone over, since the PSAT writing is only grammar. They should just make the SAT like the PSAT-- you can't measure a person's writing ability by a stupid 25 minute essay where you're limited to 2 pages. It's really a test of how quickly you can invent a bs story to make your point or spit up some sparknotes analysis of a book you read for English class. Stupid essay.
