Retake??

Hi, looking into the service academies... already accepted to summer program @ air force academy and am leaving in a few days for it... i took the may 7th SAT and got the following

CR: 590
M: 590
W: 580

OVERALL: 1760

I find it odd though, because every practice SAT I took, my writing score was always the highest. On the practice tests I usually got 640-660... I dont understand...

Essay was an 8, but everybody i talked to said they got the same... Do I have to write like a "fairy" to get a higher score? When i took my Kaplan SAT course, i constantly got 12s on my essays...

My question is: Realistically, is it possible to get my math score close to 700, and if so, what do I have to do? I need my CR score to around a 650-690 too... what should I do for that as well? Service academies generally say that to be competitive, you need 600s. and to stand out you need 700+... I really would love to get my math and CR scores up... suggestions?

thanks.
Pat

You have plenty of time to prepare for the October’s test. So I suggest that you read 2 to 3 books during the interval and do more practice tests. You should be especially careful when you take the math test because you may make mistakes by carelessness and this results in a low score.
Good luck!

Read Up Your Score. It’s really helpful because it teaches you tricks in all three sections, and tells you what kinds of questions to expect and how to get around them. Like what to expect on math, math tricks, the 13 rules of grammar… But to actually put these tricks into action, take prac tests to see how you do. I recommend collegeboard studyguide with prac tests, or barons study guide if you want a real challenge. And vocab. Read, read, read! Not only does it help your vocab immensely, you get better at grammar and writing, and more than often you can use literature examples to support your essays. Everything on the test is common sense, you just need to break the hard stuff down to realize it.

May I ask, what is the highest math you have taken?
