In my junior year I received a 2120 SAT and 34 ACT. I am retaking the SAT. Should I retake the ACT?
Yes you can only improve from there. I’m retaking as well any tips?
DO not retake the ACT, work on the other aspects of your application.
I’m surprised that someone would continue with testing for either the SAT or ACT after receiving a 34 on the ACT. That is an excellent score!! Both my kids scored 34s on their ACT, the oldest got into all of her favorite schools and is attending one of them. The other will be a senior this fall. When she received her score, she said, “I’m officially done!” and we all celebrated. Her plans this fall instead of taking the SAT or ACT include playing a varsity sport for her school, continuing work on an internship, volunteering, and seeing her friends. I think those kinds of activities are way more useful and interesting in life than taking standardized tests. My advice then is to do something else with your time than taking more tests. You did great! Now enjoy doing something you care about!
I would recommend retaking it. My son was much more confident the second time around.
This is the dillema that I’m going through right now. I got a 34 on my first try, but idk if I should take it again and try to get a 36. I know in my school we are forced to take it in March, through the high school, but yea I’d suggest taking it again if you really want to. 34 is fine, not a huge difference from 36. If you feel that it’s necessary for the college you plan on attending, then I would go for it, and you should too if you want to. 34 is amazing, and is not that different from 36.
Thank you for the feedback.
Actually, 34 is quite different than 36. According to this link
http://blog.prepscholar.com/how-many-people-get-a-34-35-36-on-the-act-score-breakdown
14,037 test takers got a 34 (0.76%)
7,175 test takers got a 35 (0.38%)
1,047 test takers got a 36 (0.08%)
So, as the website summarizes, “about 10 times as many students earned a 34 than earned a 36.”
Although a composite score of 34 is perfectly fine for many universities, it isn’t extraordinary at the most selective - 36, however, is.
