Retaking AP Credits

Does anyone know if there are any consequences for taking classes that you already have AP credit for??

I'm taking Calc 1 even though I got a 5 on the exam because my advisor said vet schools want to see that you took the course in college. I also want to take Psychology because I love the subject but I got a 4 on the AP psych exam.

I just want to make sure that it isn't frowned upon by the school.

Its not frowned upon. Simply, you get a grade, but no new/additional credit.

Quite the opposite. Many graduate schools frown upon using AP credit for majors, i.e. using AP credits for Calculus in regards to med school.

To take a class you have credit for from AP/IB, you simply DECLINE the credit first. Then you take the class. If you take the class, you want the credit for the CLASS to appear on your transcript, not the credit from testing out of the class.

i was under the impression there was a specific order whereby in the case of duplicate credits, the class would trump the test. i never had to decline anything to get credit for 1101/1102 for dual enrollment

aforautumn is correct. I actually just got a letter in the mail a few weeks ago about this from UF. They said, since I am signed up to take classes that I already earned AP credit for, that the UF credit would replace the AP credit earned, no matter what grade I get in the class (even if I end up failing).
