Retaking AP tests

I want to retake one of my AP tests because I got a 3 (unfortunately it was my first AP test ever and I had some problems with time management) and I think I can do better and since I'm an incoming junior I still have two chances to retake it. Anyways, my question is that if I retake the test and get a better score and want my college to know that score, will I have to tell them my bad score as well as my better one? And will the college penalize me in some way if they know that the first time I took it, I got a 3 (even if I go to a school that accepts 3's and above)?

if u cancel that score, they wont ever see it in the first place....

Hmm okay is anyone else planning to retake an AP test?

Retakes are pointless. You are almost guaranteed a lower score.

urcool, it is too late to cancel AP scores, since June 15 was the last date you could cancel. However, AP scores are self-reported on your college apps, so you could merely not report a particularly bad one. Like someone else said on another thread, it will seem suspicious if you took, say, 10 AP classes, but only reported 5 scores. If you take more AP classes next year and do well (4s and 5s) on them, then it would be okay to not report the 3.

retaking is a waste. go get a life

I thought you could cancel at any time, but had to cancel by June 15th if you didn't want it reported or something of that nature. Anyway, I'm planning to retake the AP Biology exam, so does that mean that there would be two AP Bio scores on the transcript since I didn't cancel by June 15th? Thanks

michael09, that's what I want to know....

Well like the above posters said scores are self reported, so u could just not report a score, and if ur sure that the colleges ur applying to will look at ur score report when u apply (almost none do when u apply), u can always pay the 10 dollers to cb to "hide" a score. Lastly, a word of advice, don't retake ap scores, the scores aren't worth much just look a couple threads down... (if you want to retake anything retake ur SAT's and SAT 2's those are far more important than ap scores)
