Is that a good idea? My ACT was 29 (31R, 31E, 27S, 27M, 10E), so if I improve on science & math (I think they're the easiest to improve), my composite would at least go up a point. My dream school is Brown; is it worth it to spend a LOT of time studying just in case? What if I actually do get in? Then my time would've been wasted. Opinions?

The only way it’d really help you is if you’re wasted, which is slim. Odds are, based purely on Brown’s stats, that you’re like 88% rejected, 10% accepted, 2% waitlisted… that’s ballpark but my estimate…

Not to be negative, because Brown’s my dream school as well. (Deferred ED) It’d be a lot of work and you don’t know if you’d do that much better. If you want to gamble on the 2% chance of waitlist that bad, then do it.

I would retake it. Not just to up your chances this year but you may want to transfer in the future and many colleges won’t accept scores from tests taken after you start college.

I vote for retaking it, too. Even if it doesn’t help with Brown, it could get you more merit money at your safety school.
