Retaking the SAT or ACT for college transfers?

Hi, I’m a high school senior and I recently committed to Rutgers School of Business New Brunswick.
I’m excited for my new school, but I am also thinking about transfers (under the condition that I do well during freshmen year). I’m trying to take classes at a local community college during summer to get some credits before entering college, so I am more prepared for transfers after freshmen year.

Does this sound like a decent plan for the summer after high school?

Also, my new SAT score was 1380, which was way below some of the average scores for schools that I applied and got denied from. I’m not a strong SAT test taker, and the 1380 was honestly my best score.
I read that SAT counts alot if you’re applying just after freshmen year, but I’m not confident with my performance…

Any advice on testing retakes? Or other activities to prepare for transfer?

Thanks alot!!

You need to verify that the places on your list will accept scores earned after high school graduation.

My bet is that there are much better ways for you to spend your time!

generally colleges won’t care about your sat/act once you get past freshman year of college [they are meant to show how ready for college you are] . If you are planning on transferring out almost immediately (60 or less credits) I would consider it. I can get behind happymom’s advice. you’ll probably be in a better place if you get an internship or something vs getting +200 points on the sat

If you didn’t get into those schools when you applied as a high school senior, why do you think they would accept you as a transfer after one year of college? A few intro courses taken as a freshman will not really alter your application. Accept that you are going to Rutgers. Do your best and consider transfer after two years as a junior if you have excellent grades and good LORs.

It’s typically harder to get into colleges as a transfer then as a freshman, unless you’re aiming for another state school (TCNJ).
If you can register for the May sat and retake, it’d count everywhere, even colleges that don’t accept college student scores, because the test would be taken while you’re still a senior.
