Has anyone seen one yet? I called about two weeks ago because son's package only shows one of his scholarships and they said they hadn't even started returning student packages yet. I checked this morning and the it still just showed the one entry. I just called now and they said they haven't started the returning students yet. Mid July is getting pretty late for no info on financial aid.

I just got S2’s a week ago. I remember it was always in July. Last year it was late in July and I was so stressed out because I had 2 in college and really wasn’t sure how everything would play out. It’s never pretty but hopefully it will be very similar to last year’s for you if your financial stayed pretty similar. I did end up calling the finaid directors last summer and they both called me back after looking at that particular son’s file and told me verbally that “not much would change.” Neither are at “meets need” schools so dividing the EFC didn’t make a huge difference in the long run but I was alittle stressed because I just wanted to see it in black and white! Good luck maybe you can get a quick read on possible outcomes.

Just got S1’s today. It is much, MUCH better than in the previous two years, I assume because S2 will also be in college this year, for the first time. For us, having two in college at the same time is making a huge difference; it’s like a two-for-one deal.

^ The colleges are very generous when there is more than one student in college at the same time. We had four in school at the same time and the only school that did not recognize that we had more than one kid in college was my daughters school a private LAC. This year we received no financial aid for my daughter at her state school because all of her brothers have graduated…we expected that.

I remember we did not get the aid packages from Cornell or MIT until almost before they went back to school. It would cause me worry but it always worked out.

Semi-related question - Daughter got a scholarship, she accepted it online, the online thingie shows as accepted, returned some forms to the Office of Financial Aid as directed (even though she did not get FA, just a scholarship), then 3 days before deadline gets a text from Scholarship Office asking ‘duude, where’s my form’. We Fedex’d it on time but this made me wonder. Does everyone treat Financial Aid (from the school, not FAFSA) and Scholarships the same or different? With different offices and the such?
