returning to school after a long absence

it’s been about 8 years since i withdrew from a small liberal arts college in new england. i left one year before finishing my bachelor’s degree. i currently live in los angeles, and i need to finish my BA because i want to get an MLIS and become a librarian.

i have a few questions about going back to school. i’m looking at schools in southern california, and most of them require letters of recommendations from professors (one accepts recommendations from employers, but also requires one from a professor). where am i going to get them? my old professors probably don’t remember who i am.

also, are there any schools in the area that are good at handling older students like me?

It can’t hurt to get in touch with former professors. I was astounded to learn that my program’s coordinator remembered me from my days as a campus resident - 14 years ago.

I graduated from nursing school 20 years ago when I was in my 30s. I am in my 50s now and plan on going to another college for a degree in art.
