Revamped course/credit system

Does anyone have any information about this beyond what is here:
<a href="https://oncampus.oberlin.edu/source/articles/2012/05/09/breaking-news%5B/url%5D">https://oncampus.oberlin.edu/source/articles/2012/05/09/breaking-news</a></p>

I got a call from my son who seems concerned about what this would mean for him.

As yet there hasn’t been more detailed information provided anywhere. The other students I’ve talked to have heard mixed things about what the specifics are and whether/how this will affect students who are already enrolled. I think it was a poor choice for the college to break the news before they were able to post complete details… especially right before finals, when people have more than enough academic things to worry about.

The changes will have no effect on students who are already enrolled. They will not go into effect until the 2013-14 academic year, and only for new students then.

Dave74 Do you work for Oberlin?

The Oberlin site (I cited above) writes
"To make the transition as seamless as possible for our students, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Conservatory of Music will review each student’s record to ensure whatever progress made toward graduation, including individual requirements, will be honored. "

From this I inferred, perhaps incorrectly, that the changes may affect current students.

One of my daughter’s professors told her that the changes would not significantly affect current students. In cases of a conflict between the old and new requirements, the outcome more favorable to the student would be allowed.

According to the message from President Krislov
“This revised set of requirements is designed to help students focus their academic work, increase the academic rigor of the Arts and Sciences degree, and emphasize the strength of the Oberlin curriculum.”
