I am an International Student from Pakistan and I have been accepted at Gustavus Adoplhus College this year for fall 2014 as a part of GAC class of 2018. I received a scholarship of $38,400/annum. Remaining cost is around 13000/annum which is affordable for my family. I will be management and economics.

Kindly provide me with reviews. How is area, campus, residential life I mean dorms, dining halls etc.

Along with that how are the academics, faculty, student body and graduate and career opportunities.

And most importantly how is Gustavus reputation in US and in Minnesota.

I am really looking forward for reviews. Please reply :)

Gustavus is a couple hours outside the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. It has a fine regional reputation with employers in the Midwest, isn’t known much outside of there. It is located on a hill near the town of St. Peter, MN. The town is pretty small, I suspect most of your social life will be on campus. Which is fine, I think they have a lot of activities going on.

I have spent some time there at family summer tennis programs with one of my kids; don’t recall much about the dorms, pretty typical. The one we stayed in did not have air conditioning, so a box fan was nice (but you would want to buy that when you get to Minnesota). I think there is only one dining hall, but it is fine. As you probably know, it is pretty cold and snowy in Minnesota. The campus location on a hill means it can have some serious windchill.

About 3/4 of the students are from Minnesota and it has something of a Lutheran flavor. Which is not a bad thing, and I think an international student who wasn’t Lutheran would be accepted and easily make friends – it is also very much a “Minnesota Nice” group of people. It is a solid, but not top of the line academic school.

Strong academically, serious, good activities on campus, nice music, good reputation in MN, opportunities for summer internships in the Cities.
CONGRATULATIONS that’s a very nice admission :)
