Revisit day (vs. just revisiting)?

Hi all:

We're trying to juggle schedules, and might have to miss the official admitted students' day next week. Some other day we could pop in and have the admit visit classes and hang out. Has anyone here seen enough of these events to know if that is a dumb decision?

We went to a few different ones and they were all worthwhile, though of varying quality. The Smith event was probably the best, with interesting activities for students and parents. The sleepover portion was well organized and very useful, with the hosts spending a lot of time with the prospective students, and the prospective students sleeping in the hosts’ rooms; at another school the prospective students got dropped off by the hosts at various activities, and slept as a group in the common room of the dorm. At Smith the students seem genuinely excited to see the prospects, whereas at the other school, it kind of felt as if the prospects were getting in the way of studying. At a third school we heard on the way into a dining hall, “It’s a revisit day? Great! The food will be good today!”

So it’s worth going if you can swing it, but it would still be useful to go on another day, since you’ll see what the campus is normally like. Either way I’d recommend an overnight stay, especially if your daughter isn’t sure if a women’s college is the right place for her.
