Revisit Day?

I was wondering about revisit days. I only applied to to schools- Brooks (waitlisted) and Andover (accepted), and don't know if I should revisit. I look at these days as a way to help parents and students decide in their quest for the right school. I know a lot abouth the school already. Should I go to the revisit day or not? (Plus, I think it's too late to reserve a place at Andover for the revisit day anyways).

well if its too late, its too late. but i would go. u can meet future classmates and teachers! plus it can finalize your decsion.

If you can go to Andover, go. The schools put on a very nice day to keep their yields high!
Pretty amazing bigblue that you were accepted to andover and waitlisted to Brooks! Congratulations!

Brooklynguy's applicant was accepted at Andover and waitlisted at Williston.

Yes. Apparently, this happens in the college admissions process too. Schools want to keep a high yield, so if School A thinks that beacuse you have applied to schools B,C, and D, and are more likely to go to them than school A if you get in, school A will wait list you. And while it does seem to make the whole process somewhat of a game to keep the schools numbers looking good, I can see it from the schools point of view, to some extent.

Bigblue - you should go if you can, and you probably still can. Based on where you applied, are you a day student?

BrooklynGuy is right.

Well, I applied as a day student. They said they could have me board if there are rooms left.

Yeah...I agree with what you are saying, BrooklynGuy.

BrooklynGuy,
How do schools know where else you're applying unless you tell them?

Many schools ask you right on the application. Every school we interviewed asked what other schools we're applying to. If you applied for Financial Aid, the schools you've listed will be on the SSS form.

on my applications i left the line asking what other schools i was applying to blank (if there was one) and at my interviews i said that i was undecided where i would be applying to (if asked). Also, i didn't apply for financial aid. Is there any other way they could find out? Do the bs's share information? Is it likely that the admissions office at the bs's I applied to called my school to find out where else i applied?

do you want them to find out? or what?

bigblue, if you'd like to revisit Andover, only Tuesday April 8th and Wednesday April 9th have spaces. I called them an hour ago to schedule a Monday revisit, but they were filled. So i'm going Tuesday. I recommend you go but if you do, call tomorrow first thing in the morning or right when you get home from school.

Some applications asked for other schools that you were applying. We put down a few others, but not all. I don't know if they know from the SSS form, which does list all of the schools to which you are having the form sent.

Do the schools talk to each other? I am sure that they are not supposed to do so, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did, very unofficially of course. (Call me cynical...)

My niece is a very honest young lady. When one interviewer asked what other schools she was applying, she told him most of them. I would have guided her to be a little more circumspect. But, I can't really criticize her for being honest.

McSkittlz10, I called a few hours ago, and the woman told me that tuesday was filled. So I'm going on Wednesday. It's too bad because we could have possibly met, but I guess that if you decide to go than we could meet in September 08.

I'm 90% sure i'm going to Andover. That's odd though that you were told that Tuesday was filled. It probably depends on the grade and gender. For example, they have 25 male freshman who will have a shadow on Monday. But there are only 10 male sophomores/lowers that are filled quickly. That'd be my guess. I will most likely see you in September.

Kramer,
I think the SSAT scores tells schools the dates you have taken the test and what schools you requested the scores sent to.

does anyone have the Experience exeter schedule??
i lost mine, and can't find it online.

i have it. but parents are the only ones who really need it. kids just follow around a student to classes and stuff.
