Exeter: amazing. MX: decent. :)) @buuzn03
Funny I thought exeters food was just eh! Andovers stirfey wins in the dept but the ice cream was better at Exeter
@momof3swimmers how was it??
The day I was there, Indian food was served. I’m a stickler for that cuisine so that may’ve changed my rating. :))
Yes @momof3swimmers – we wanna know how revisits were!!!
@buuzn03 I’m not entirely sure where I’m going next year but I’m really leaning more towards Exeter after my revisit today (I’ll post about that later on). And Deerfield had great food! We had chicken sandwiches cooked to perfection with potato chips or salad for non meat eaters. They also had vegan brownies which are, in my opinion, almost better than the real thing. Not many vegan/vegetarian options, but very good otherwise.
Wait Exeter serves Indian food ?! Well @lusitari , I don’t blame you
Yeah, it was actually spicy too (and I’m spice tolerant)! :)) @Atria
Spicy? nvm
My spice level is right below ‘Mild’ :))
@midtowngirl can’t wait to hear about it!!!
I would’ve been thrilled if it was Indian food! But it was corn beef and cabbage so …
Revisit day was pretty awesome actually. I had A chance to speak with the dean of health and wellness about the direction of the school and it alleviated any stress I had about the workload. Although the changes will not be instituted for the next school year they are planned for the following year. Swim kid is sleeping in the dorms tonight which he is pretty darn excited about.
Wow! I’m happy about the changes, although I wish that they would follow through with them in the next school year. But as long as it happens when I’m an upper, it should be great. Did they mention what was going on next year? How did swim kid get an opportunity to stay in the dorm? @momof3swimmers
Go where your heart tells you!! But secretly go to Deerfield bc I might be going there… :))
@midtowngirl ^^
Also is anyone extremely nervous about where to go? I really don’t want to pick the wrong place for me. ARGHHH
@booksandfries Just remember there are likely many places for you where you could be happy and receive a great education. I don’t think you can make a bad choice. Wherever you go, there will be hills and valleys, but that’s part of life (especially life as a teen) and part of the growth experience. Pick what feels right and don’t look back!
Thank you. That definitely helps!! Any ideas on how to choose?? :)) (Open to anyone and everyone!) @doschicos
@booksandfries ask @lusitari or look at her thread “tough decisions”. She got a ton of advice. Mine was go with where you think you’ll “live” best. You’ll get a stellar education from either school—where can you do that while happily and comfortably living??? (Oh–and eating good food :)) )
@booksandfries - make a pro list for each school. This was suggested by S’s college counselor for choosing a college. Just focus on the positives of each school.
@booksandfries for our kids it was all about the people. Who did you feel most comfortable with and see yourself spending the next 4 years with?
This was most evident for us when our oldest spent his junior fall semester abroad in the Bahamas. It was literally paradise. Campus right on the ocean, amazing food, really interesting academics. Life changing experiences that were unforgettable. Research projects in marine biology that involved scuba diving, ocean kayaking, solo experience for 48 hours camping on an island, training and completing a 4 mile open ocean swim with sharks and then presenting research findings to advocate for environmental change with the Bahamian prime minister.
Sounds great right??! But the moment he got back to dreary, freezing snowy New Hampshire to surprise his friends with his return was one of the best moments of my life. Seeing him surrounded by people who loved and cared about him like a brother was priceless. In island paradise, he felt lonely and disconnected from the community. It really is all about where you see yourself finding a community where you belong. Good luck!
