I was recently accepted into the University of Delaware however I am starting to slip up in math my grade right now is close to a D and it probably will be a D since i just failed a quiz. That is only for one marking period and the rest of my classes are at their normal grades. If I were to stay on this downhill trend in math and receive a D for my final grade would Delaware most likely revoke my acceptance and what would happen if I maintain a C?
Thanks
Is this a quarter grade or a semester grade? (I’m not sure what your mean by “marking period”.)
From what people have said on this forum in the past, no Ds, no Fs, no felonies. So, the D may be an issue.
However, I don’t know what your “normal grades” are. How much is a C or D off of your “normal grades”? Did you get any scholarships you are in jeopardy of losing?
In any event, bring up that grade any way you can!
marking period is a quarter and by normal i mean Bs and As
I wouldn’t worry about a quarter grade. Can you bring it up to a C for the semester grade?
In general, once you are admitted somewhere, you will want whatever goes on your transcript to be a B or above. Any C grades or below will require explanation. If that D grade will not make it onto your transcript, you will be fine, but if it will, you could likely be in trouble.
The general requirements for maintaining your acceptance are “no Ds, Fs, fraud (plagiarizing/cheating), or felonies”. You’ll have to check the acceptance letter from Delaware, but the general rule is that if you get a D you’re in danger of having your admission rescinded.
You should work hard to make sure it goes no lower than a C (preferably a B- or above). That said, schools really hate to rescind admissions so you are very likely safe if you descend as low as a C- (but why take the risk if you can avoid it?). Frankly, even if you end up with a D they probably will give you a warning but still let you enroll. But your best bet is to make sure you get as good a grade as possible. Although highly unlikely given declining volumes, this might be the year they decide to really clamp down on senioritis. Why roll the dice?
