Revoked Admission

How bad does my final report card have to be? I get good grades so I know I am probably just being paranoid, but will they revoke my admission if I went from say an A to a B.
Do you know anyone who has had amission revoked?

56 views and no answer?!?!

No, not from an A to a B.
From A’s to D’s…maybe a conversation would be had.
Yes, I know someone who has had it revoked. They were “dismissed” from the school they were currently attending.

no I mean like I got into Exeter and it said in my packet that if I did not keep up good grades my admission could be revoked, before I have even attended!

Yes, they will rescind admission if your grades fall too far. No, I don’t know what level would trigger rescission. My impression is, it happens infrequently, and more often for disciplinary issues or things such as lying on the application.

Don’t get all worked up about slipping from an A to a B. If you can’t sleep, call your admissions counselor at Exeter during normal business hours. He or she can answer this question, we can’t.

That clause is to prevent “senior slump” where people tend to ramp up to get perfect grades, then slack off when the acceptance is in. Like the great “exhale.”

Don’t sweat a drop from an A to a B. Do sweat multiple C’s, D’s and/or F’s if you were a straight A student beforehand. And if you were, why wouldn’t you be able to carry at least a 3.0 afterwards?

that is what I said…
A to B…no…A to D they would have a conversation with you.

You asked if anyone had ever heard of an admission offer being revoked. I said yes, because the student was dismissed from the school they were attending.

DON’T worry guys, if you were smart enough to be accepted to Exeter, you’ll be smart enough to avoid senioritis.
That’s funny - Exeter sends these warning letters? I didn’t know, although I did get one from Peddie threatening me to remain in good academic standing or I would be left boarding school-less. This was in addition to the nice handwritten note from an admissions officer…;)

Every school “implies” the penalty by adding a note in the admissions packet saying parents need to send their current copy of tax forms to finalize financial aid AND students must send copy of final grades and/or proof of successful completion of the year.

Been that way for years - some schools are just more overt than others. As with all things, probably because it’s happened before that someone needed to have their status revoked.

I’m still genuinely puzzled by this whole thread, at least as regards Exeter. Where was this note? I didn’t see one anywhere. Now I’m feeling like I missed something important. Can anyone be more specific?

As with me Exeter, they did warn me to keep my grades up but they did not send a formal note telling me to send in the proof that I completed the 8th grade.

I was wondering what would actually happen if your grades fell and admission was revoked. What next? Hasn’t the student turned down all other acceptances for that school? Where is the students supposed to attend now? I doubt that there are schools that would be accepting applications so late in the game…
