So I'm like totally panicking right now. I've had a C in my Calculus class and I just received my exam back. Not pretty. So I'm afraid I might have a D now. I'm pretty sure I'm going to ace every other class, calculus is taken at community college where 80% of the class has dropped due to its difficulty.

Had a bout of random depression, probably shouldn't say it. Also leadership position got complicated. Devoted a lot time to it.

When I asked about revoking admissions when I got a “pass” credit, which is anything that is a c or better, ucsb said that because I already meet science requirements it didn’t matter. Maybe it will be the same for you.

usually the admissions staff are pretty leniant about getting a d in ONE class. i got a c in my ap calc class the first semester then during the second semester, my grade in that class slipped but i had no idea what to do. i dropped into the d range so i called admissions and told them about it. they said it was fine as long as this would be the ONLY d i have.

I tried calling today, but they were closed due to the wildfires. Should I email them? Or would it be better to call them?

Just a update, my professor added up the points incorrectly… I would have received a C on the exam. Need to talk to him about it. But just the overlaying fact that I might not pass calculus is scary and I think I would actually do better knowing I won’t be punished if I don’t do well in this class.

Other than calculus, I’m looking at A’s and B’s, even though my schedule isn’t too demanding, extracurriculars were.

If they’re closed…they wouldn’t get the e-mail till monday anyways (if that when it opens back up…stupid fires). But it may be good to have the “email proof” of their response. So maybe e-mail now…call on Monday.

Anyone have any recommendation on how to craft the email? Should it be professional or semi? Should I ask what would happen or try explaining myself right away? Any help would be much appreciated!

just be like
to whom this may concern-
I am aware that I must meet the conditions of admission…including not getting lower than a C and must inform you otherwise.

That is what I’m doing now, as I am slightly concerned that I may get a D. then explain why

then ask if/how this will affect your admissions
