Anyone who has taken this class, which professors are good/easy? I currently have Diabate. Does anyone know if this professor is easy or hard? I looked on myEdu (formerly pick a prof) but no one had written a review and there were no grade distributions. This happened to me for a lot of the professors so I'm currently in a predicament as to which professor to choose. There are a lot of professors for this course so I was wondering if anyone knew which ones were good/easy in terms of course work and grading? Thanks.

Diabate has 38% A’s, 47% B’s, 13% C’s, 3% F’s on the overall grade history. I’m guessing he or she is alright/good from the looks of it. That’s all I know for English here…

arya, you know you can easily “skip” that class if you do 3 or higher on AP english language, or 600 above on SAT writing section, or 32 above on ACT writing section.

^agree with xtra.

32 or above on ACT writing? that seems a little off…

It’s 26 or above for ACT.

Your link shows the credit for 306. OP asked about 309K.

I took RHE 309K in the fall with Andrew Friedenthal as the professor, and I would highly recommend his class. The class presents rhetoric and composition within the scope of a less-known topic of study: comic books.

The class is not a blow-off, as he does make you write several papers, but he is a very forgiving grader and he gives you specific feedback in how you can improve your writing. (it’s very hard to get less than a B- in the class)

Andrew himself is a great guy, incredibly passionate about what he teaches (he is a fountain of knowledge), and I think anybody could take something away from this course.

Hope this helps!

JuansEatsPandas, I can’t take Friedenthal because I have another class at the time that he offers his class (TTH 2-3:30). I am thinking about not even taking RHE 309K here at UT and just taking it in the summer at a CC because it will be easier and less of a headache.

If you take the 309k equivalent at ACC, I would highly recommend applying for the Honors Program. All you need from UT is a GPA of 3.25 or higher to get in, the classes are smaller and have more limited (and in my opinion more fun) topics, such as Texas writers, African American writers, etc. They even offer at least 1 session online a semester so you’d rarely, if ever, have to go to a campus. Much more interesting than a regular Comp II class, plus you’d be transferring back in an honors course - definitely not as rigorous as a UT honors course, but more so than a regular CC class.
