My ds got deferred for lack of interest as well. He has a 31 ACT and 3.9 GPA. I am not surprised as I know Rhodes says they consider demonstrated interest and ds really never did for this school and didn’t visit. The email encouraged him to visit and demonstrate interest before regular decisions come out but I doubt he will. He has other acceptances and scholarships and has scholarship competitions to attend.
I guess ds just isn’t that interested 
My daughter was accepted too! Looking forward to seeing how much merit aid they offer.
Memphis is a long way from So Cal, so we’ll see how it all plays out. We’ve yet to visit.

Just received my financial aid packet, I was offered $37,175 in grants and scholarships.
@puglyduckling Congrats! Are you planning to attend? Any thoughts you have on the Rhodes and Memphis from a local’s point of view would be greatly appreciated.
wait, how did u get the package so quickly? i got in EA and just turned in my FAFSA today. will this mean i get it soon? @puglyduckling
@arc918 my daughter is a freshman at Rhodes and we are from SoCal. She loves Memphis and her experience to date. If you haven’t visited, you should. Our visit was the deciding factor for my daughter
@hellokitty679 Did you complete the CSS Profile yet? I believe that is what is used by Rhodes to calculate the financial package. The financial aid/merit aid packages were mailed at the end of last week to students who were accepted through EA. They should arrive sometime this week via snail mail. If you did not complete the CSS Profile, you should contact the school to see what you need to do. @puglyduckling might be a Memphis resident and received the package earlier than those of us who live out of state.
DD2 was admitted EA, and is awaiting the financial aid/merit aid package. I like that they’ll combine these into one package, most schools you have to wait a long time for the Financial Aid portion.
BTW, if you haven’t visited, you should. Best piece of mail DD2 got was from Rhodes “Life is too short to spend 4 years on an ugly campus”. The campus was the prettiest I have set foot on with DD1 and DD2. More to a visit than just the physical campus of course.
Correction, DD2 was an ED1 admit.

@SoCalDadof3 - thanks for the input, we’re trying to schedule a visit. We’ve already been to Seattle and Denver in the last couple weeks looking at her some of her other schools.

@atlchelle hii, i’m also waiting for the package to come. I’m an international student so i don’t know when it will arrive. By snail mail do you mean the portal mail ? Or express mail, email ? thank you very much !
Ours came by regular, snail mail (domestic U.S. applicant), about a 7-10 days ago.
