EA Rhodes 2025

Hello! I have not seen a thread regarding when Rhodes College will be releasing EA decisions for 2025. Has anyone heard anything? TIA

I believe my D’s portal says by Jan 15.

Her admissions rep texted yesterday and asked to schedule a call to share “good news.” So we assume that she is accepted and crossing fingers she’ll get good merit. I thought that was a nice personal touch. Of course, now I’m on pins and needles to find out that “good news” and my D is so nonchalant!

Congratulations to you & your D! My D’s counselor received an email last Friday saying decisions would come this week, but did not specify a date. I wasn’t sure if they contact all counselors or not. My D has not received a text or a phone call, so I’m a little concerned. Fingers crossed she hears something soon! She is on pins & needles since Rhodes is her 1st choice!

My D just talked to her GC and he told her she’s a finalist for a “top scholars” award that will require an interview and other additional steps. Not very specific information… she just sent me a quick text between classes. But it does sound promising so I can’t wait for details!

As far as the personal contact from her admissions rep, my D reminded me that her GC is a former Rhodes AO and knows her rep personally. So I’m not reading much into that anymore. Could have simply been a courtesy to her former colleague.

Good luck to your D! She should know something by Friday at the latest. Please update us. I’m glad to see we aren’t the only Rhodes applicants on CC!

My D had the phone call this afternoon. It was a courtesy to inform her of finalist status for a full ride scholarship. She’s super excited and honored but knows it is a long shot to actually get it.

So don’t read anything into the call or lack of regarding your D’s decision. None of my D’s friends have received calls. Including some who received early acceptances and scholarships from other schools where my D hasn’t heard back yet. You just never know what each school is looking for or exactly how their process works. Fingers crossed for your D!!

Edit: While my D understood from her GC she was up for a full ride, it was actually for their “top scholar” merit award, which is the Cambridge scholarship $35,000 (the Bellingrath full ride is no longer offered). I correct this in posts below but am also noting here to prevent misinformation for future readers.

Wow, how exciting for you both! I pray she gets the full ride! Thank you for letting me know about the reason for the phone call, that makes me feel better. This waiting process is the worst, but I know it will be worth it at the end!

Our son’s admission counselor said it is all getting released today. We’re also on pins and needles. My oldest son graduated from Rhodes last spring and loved it. My son applying now is pretty enthused about Rhodes + his grandfather and aunt live in Memphis, so nice for him to have family close by. He did get a great scholarship from Allegheny College, so I am hoping Rhodes has a good merit award for him too. We will have three in college next year plus our oldest is in grad school, lol…

probably more detail then you have, any idea of the release time?

Late to this thread, but after reading it wanted to tell my daugher’s experience. She got a text from her Rhodes counselor in Dec. when all the Ivies were coming out to let her know that they would release on today. A lot of kids from daughter’s school go to Ivies, but she applied only to Yale RD to see if she can get in. We really can’t afford that.Daughter had interviewed with this counselor earlier in the year as part of an admissions exercise with her school. Daughter is interested in Rhodes, but we are hoping for merit.
Stats:
Not sure of GPA, but all As with 9 APs.
ACT 35
National Merit Semi-Finalist
Heavy liberal arts ECs - editor for school mag, works in school writing center, etc.

According to the email my D’s GC received this week, decisions will be posted by “this evening.” I’m not sure what specific time :crossed_fingers:t2:

I would bet that she’ll get a nice award with those stats! Our eldest had something around a 1520 or so (a few years ago so can’t remember exact numbers), lots of honors classes. Generally good grades but not straight A’s. His interview was outstanding (seriously, the kid read Greek and Roman philosophy for fun in high school and middle school), and had a unique background (orthodox Jewish day school, deep background in Talmud, very good Hebrew and reasonable Aramaic). He ended up with merit award that covered half.

Hi, I’m a prospective Rhodes student in the same boat. I received the same text in December, and have very similar stats to your daughter (4.8 WPGA, 7 APs, 4 dual enrollment classes, SAT 1550). My high school is very similar in terms of students heading to Ivies. I haven’t heard back from Rhodes yet and it’s 5:20 EST. Hoping for the best for you and your daughter!

Also if anyone receives their decision please post it here; you don’t need to say what the decision is, I’m just trying to gauge the timing.

what time will they be released?

There’s no telling. A lot of colleges release at 7 pm but that’s not a guarantee. In past years Rhodes has released a day late even.
