Rhodes College now has Naval ROTC

Rhodes College is one of the outstanding liberal arts colleges in the South, and now it offers NROTC in partnership with the University of Memphis. Rhodes is ranked by Forbes as among the top 100 colleges and universities in the country. US News ranks it as #54 best liberal arts college in America.

Because Rhodes does not have any engineering majors, NROTC scholarship opportunities there are limited to tier 2 and tier 3 majors -- or Marine Option recipients.

Good tier 2 majors at Rhodes include: Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.

Students interested in tier 3 LREC programs might explore Rhodes' majors in Russian Studies and Chinese Studies. Rhodes is also considered to have a top notch International Studies program.

In the past, Rhodes has offered room and board discounts to Army and Air Force ROTC scholarship recipients, and they expect to do the same for Navy. This is likely to be free room and board, but remains to be seen. The first NROTC scholarships to Rhodes will be assigned for the Fall of 2015.

All NROTC activities will take place at the University of Memphis, which is five miles from Rhodes.

Rhodes College, in some ways, is similar to Tulane although smaller. Both are rigorous schools, and just short of being considered elite. Both are strongly service oriented (Tulane requires students to have service portfolio, while Rhodes was twice ranked the number 1 service oriented college in America by Newsweek magazine). Each is nestled in upscale neighborhoods. Audubon Park is across the street from Tulane. The Memphis Zoo is across the street from Rhodes. Both are in cities, New Orleans and Memphis, renowned for their live music scenes.

It is kind of buried deep, and has not yet been updated for NROTC, but for the Army it says:
