I'm currently trying to decide between Rhodes College and the University of Richmond. Rhodes and Richmond have given me a lot more money than the other colleges I've been accepted at (Vandy, Emory, WashU, Rice, etc.), and since I plan on going to medical school, I'm planning on attending a college where I won't have to incur debts/loans.

Does anyone have any information about the pre med programs/advising at these colleges? I LOVE both colleges, so the deciding factor is going to be their ability to prepare me for and get me accepted to medical school.

Both are good schools and I think either one would prepare you for med school. I would personally pick Richmond if I had the choice (D-1 sports/school spirit).

Richmond is much more selective than Rhodes, so you would have a different peer group there. Have you visited the schools? Richmond’s campus is quite beautiful.

I would lean towards Richmond. It has a very big endowment, with lots of resources, and a great student environment.

There is a longtime poster named “curmudgeon” whose daughter turned down Yale undergrad for full ride at Rhodes. She was a Goldwater scholar at Rhodes and is now at Yale’s med school. You may want to PM him for info about her experience at Rhodes.
