Rhodes Mock Trial Academy

Hello! I would really love to hear from anyone who is familiar with this program! I was admitted into Rhodes EA, and after I received my acceptance letter, Rhodes sent me a letter about this program. Although it seems like a really cool opportunity, I have many questions…

  1. I have never done Mock Trial, but I have been on my school’s Speech and Debate team for three years. I have no knowledge of mock trial but would love to participate in college. While the form I received says that beginners are welcome, is that really true? How many people who attend are truly beginners and how many aren’t?
  2. As I previously said, I am a rising Freshman to Rhodes. The program says it’s open to high schoolers. While I am technically a high schooler, is this program meant for people like me? Will I meet future Rhodes folk there too?

If someone could answer these questions or provide any additional info I’d be eternally thankful! I want to start my college experience on the right foot!

Hi! I’m also currently a high school senior who plans on attending Rhodes’ Mock Trial Academy this summer. Having talked to one their mock trial coaches, beginners are totally welcome! She herself was actually a beginner when she first joined the Rhodes team, and was captain of the A Team by her senior year! I also know from my conversation with her that you definitely can participate as a rising Freshman (I had the same question too).

I could possibly connect you to her, if you’d like!

@Chicago2001 That would be great! Although I probably won’t contact her unless I know that I got accepted! That’s a relief to hear that you and possibly other rising Freshman are going though! Do you know when results are supposed to come out?
