[] Essays: All right. I really didn’t have much faith in them when I submitted them. I guess they must have struck a cord with the admissions committee somehow though. I still have no idea how in the world I got accepted. Compared to all these other stellar applicants, I am so lacking. Yet, I am lucky.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Good, but brief
[] Counselor Rec: Didn’t get to see. I would guess pretty good.
[] Additional Rec: None
[] Interview: Did relatively well. Frankly, the alumni talked more about Rice than I talked about myself.

[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
[] Intended Major: Economics
[] State (if domestic applicant): AL
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: Public (might I also add “rural”?)
[] Ethnicity: Asian
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: <100,000
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Maybe the fact that I’m from Alabama?
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Geographical region, test scores, essays (were they what saved me from being waitlisted or rejected?), recommendations
[] Weaknesses: Race, mediorce ECs (as my school had limited opportunities)
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I have no idea! Maybe because I prayed every night to God?? No seriously. I really don’t know. I had just gotten wait-listed at UChicago, so when I clicked on “View Admissions Notification” for Rice, I definitely was not getting my hopes up. When I read the words “Congratulations…” I thought I was on the wrong page or that the admissions committee had me confused with someone else!!! I AM SO LUCKY!!!
[] The most unique thing in your application: Essay (wrote about how my mom led me to resilience and how I would like to somehow make her proud in the future)

Congrats to all who were accepted! In fact, congrats to everyone who applied! The college admissions is really iffy. You are a good student regardless of what colleges ultimately decide in their decisions. All of you will have great futures!
