I’m hispanic and male, from the DC area, not really sure where I am in the picture of college admissions, thanks for taking a look.
GPA:
3.51 unweighted, 4.2 weighted.
SAT:
760 math, 740 reading, 730 writing
2230 combined
800 math 2
770 physics
AP classes:
AP Calc BC (5), AP English language (4), AP Physics C (both 5s), AP World History (4), AP Chemistry, AP US Government, AP Stat, and I’m taking differential equations and multivariable calc at the local community college.
Extracurriculars:
Math team, science team, national honor society, science national honor society, club soccer, track and field and lots of volunteer work with animal shelters.
I have recommendations from my physics teacher, my history teacher, and my counselor.
I had a paid internship at Monmouth University last summer doing computer programming for the hurricane shelters on the shore.
I moved before junior year, and that was a bit of a rough time for me, so there was a very noticable dip in my grades that year. I also don’t have a bunch of leadership positions, partially because of that discontinuity. Should I put this somewhere in my applications, or will I just sound whiny and complaining?
I’m applying to Rice, Penn State, Cooper Union, Maryland, and the Coast Guard Academy, am I getting way too ahead of myself, or do I have a chance at any of these school?
Thanks guys!
