****Rice ED Class Of 2022 Thread****

Last year it was on the 16 because that was the third friday of december so i’m almost certain it will come out the 15th… I’ll probably spend that entire day checking my email, I don’t want to wait any more than I have to >.<

S is waiting, but he understands the reality of the situation, which is that 4 of 5 early applicants do NOT get admitted in the ED round. You can be a wonderful, bright, thoughtful, articulate young man or woman and not get admitted to Rice, and it doesn’t mean anything other than it wasn’t meant to be. A little adversity builds character and you can still achieve success and happiness, so don’t sweat it.

Good luck to all who applied. You’re all likely great students and interesting people. Whatever happens in mid-December doesn’t change that.

Do Questbridge applicants count in the ED numbers? By that I mean, do the numbers at https://futureowls.rice.edu/futureowls/Freshman_Profile.asp include Questbridge matches in the early decision admits column?

If so, when you factor in Questbridge and recruited athletes, the numbers get a lot more dismal for the rest of us :frowning:

Does Rice look at old SAT scores as well?

I know that on their website it only says applicants should send their New SAT scores, but doesn’t Rice require ALL scores to be sent?

@rice2022

not that dismal. If you factor in QB students it’s 18%.

You’re forgetting that it’s also proportional, the loss of available spots based on QB admits is possibly somewhat (whether moreso, less, or the same) offset by the amount who are denied/not matched. While it’s impossible to tell because we don’t have the raw data, I’d wager that the odds are still about 1 in 5 not 18%.

Did anyone else who didn’t request financial aid receive a link to login to Esther? I logged in but I’m getting an error message as follows when I click on any of the links regarding financial information: This page is not enabled for current user role(s). I assume esther for non financial aid students is to look at merit awards, but I get an error when I try to look at that page as well. Anyone else getting the error?

@PenguinThief My son didn’t apply for FA either, but he received a link to Esther and he was able to login.

@jayparent I was able to login, but when I click on Financial Aid Requirements or Award Status I get that error. Do you know what it pulls up for him after logging in when trying to click on the links?

same with me, I believe that is how it is supposed to be.

@ballup are you saying it does work for you or that it gives you an error as it does for me?

We requested Financial Aid. When we log in to Esther, it takes us to the Main Menu with 3 options: Personal Information, Office of Financial Aid, and Faculty/Staff Giving.

When we click on the “Office of Financial Aid” link, it brings us to a new page with two options: Financial Aid Requirements and Award Status.

When we click on “Financial Aid Requirements”, we select the 2018-2019 school year and are brought to a page that lists all the Satisfied and Unsatisfied requirements.

Where are you guys from? Let’s discuss as we wait
major? school you are applying to?
I’ll start.
I’m applying from Florida, and I applied to the the school of social sciences as a psychology major.

CA, School of Natural Sciences, Bio/pre-med.

Hi! I’m from California, applying to engineering (CS major, mech as choice 2)

South Korea, Natural Science (Bio major). As the final countdown is getting near, best of luck to everyone!

I’m from Utah and i’m applying to the school of architecture (Arch major)

Isn’t the waiting just the worst… Like by now all our fates are sealed but there is nothing we can do but wait another 9 days for a decision that will literally change the outcome of our lives

@justwant2gradu8 Aren’t you getting a little too emotional on something that may not matter at all?

I can’t wait any longerrrrrrrrrrrrr
