any chance decisions will come out today?
@ballup probably not, they are slotted to come out on the 15th… only one more week!
NY, Engineering, Physics, EE and Water and Energy Sustainability listed as top 3 choices
Hey guys! I’m from NJ and I applied to Com sci. Good luck to everyone!!!
Same, I’m from cali and applied for cs. GL everyone I can’t wait any longer >_<
While we impatiently wait for December 15 to arrive, does anyone want to share what they put in the box?
I’m a senior from a small unknown public school in NY (girl). I think I have a 30% chance? But Rice is my dream schools I’m anxiously waited for next week…
BTW I applied for School of Social Sciences for linguistics! gRR
Good luck to all of you! For my rice box i didn’t really do anything clever. I took a picture of all my lego village (comprised of all the modular sets) and sent that in. What about the rest of you?
I drew a picture of an ear. In my app I wrote that my most cherished memories from speech and debate will not be from speaking, but from listening. Im applying to Natural Sci for bio. Good luck ya’ll!
From NJ, applying for a degree in physics. I put a picture of me playing guitar with three little girls from my church during a summer camp.
Hi! I’m from OR and applying for biochem. For the Box I attached an image of my favorite art piece
Did anyone else’s financial aid “Unsatisfied requirements” get updated yesterday? And does anyone know what the “Proof of Citizenship” requirement is all about?
If you applied to Rice then you are probably a great student with a lot of confidence.
Guess what, if you do not get accepted it does not HAVE to mean more to you than a speedbump in the road if you still have that confidence. And it should not stress you because of the insane variables involved in getting into a competitive university that are beyond anyone’s control. The folks that review applications are the greatest and they do the best they can in what cannot possibly be a perfect system no matter how hard they try.
What does timing mean? If Nesta Carter had been born five years earlier, his best 100 meter time would have been a world record. Now, he is just the fourth fastest on the Jamaican team. Applying for college is like that and all you can do is give your best shot.
So no matter what happens, my toes are still tappin’.
My son’s Esther account has had several changes in the last week. He hasn’t gotten the “Proof of Citizenship” requirement, but various new things have popped up one day and then disappeared the next day, either disappearing altogether or moving to the Satisfied Requirement section. I guess the Financial Aid office is working pretty hard these days to get everything ready. It would be nice to think that’s a good sign in terms of acceptance, but I’m not getting my hopes up. 7 more days of waiting…
@peachtart
I think the proof of citizenship is for students who were born outside of the US. Were you born outside of US?
@slhogan, I think financial aid office supposedly works independent of the admissions office, so this likely doesn’t mean much. Good luck!
@jayparent – I’m sure you’re right! All this online portal information is too much information. Helpful, yes, but it sort of makes me miss the way it was when we were students-- you mailed in your application and just waited until the envelope arrived in the mailbox. Somehow, keeping an eye on the various application websites seems more stressful than just checking the mailbox every day!
@YoLolololol Yes, I was. I thought it was only for those born outside of the U.S., too, but I know 2 naturalized citizens who applied ED/QuestBridge and don’t have this requirement.
I think there are certain forms of federal student financial aid only available to US citizens.
@slhogan, yes, indeed! Too much info.
