Rice Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@Houston1021 I heard from a current student that there were a lot more applicants this year due to the announcement of the new tuition policy. Do you have any insight to offer regarding the truth of this/how much do you think it was affect transfers? Thanks!

A record number of students applied to Rice this year. As far as i know Rice has not released the number of transfer applicants. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/local/education/campus-chronicles/article/Rice-University-sees-record-breaking-number-of-13556814.php Rice always admits some transfers. How many it will admit this year is anyone’s guess.

Will we be notified of when the decision comes out? Or do we have to keep checking the portal

nothing today

They released decisions for last year transfer students around April 26th.

Well, at least we’re close!

What time are admissions usually released?

From browsing past threads it looks kinda like 1:20 P.M. EST…

Has anyone asked admissions to comment on that?

Nope, also it looks like 3 years ago they released it at about 3:00 or 3:30

@“College? Nah…” Is that sort of thing frowned upon? Seems like it’d be less stressful than speculating.

Yeah, I pestered admissions about it and they refused to get specific

Guess it’s going to be next week.

That’s what it looks like. Or maybe even the week after

How is everyone doing with their other schools?

Waitlisted at Vanderbilt.

Only applied to a safety… can’t move away from parents.

What about you, @transferrrrrrcc?

@CriedEmerson doing good so far, i’m from a California CC so acceptances to UCs have been coming out. I’ve gotten into UCB and UCSD. Honestly, I’m just waiting on the rest of my private schools to reject me (Cornell has already) so I can commit to Berkeley!

UC Berkeley? Omg, congrats!!! Flex that acceptance  They’ve gotten increasingly hard to get into!
