hey just wanted to see who else is trying to transferring to rice for the spring. I just wanted to compare stats and whatnot. Thanks

Hey, I am applying to do econ, what are you applying to do?

I am applying for cell biology. I am pre med. I go to UT right now. Where do you go? I already sent in my app and my profs are working on recs right now. have u sent your stuff in yet?

I go to Texas Tech in my crappy hometown of Lubbock, Texas. I havent sent anything in yet. I will send the app in about a week or two (early October). I am asking my profs for a recommendations next Monday. I would have asked sooner but I was waiting until I had a final list of colleges. I figure that the deadline is Nov 1st and its not rolling admission so I have a little time.

Are you applying anywhere else?
What year are you?

About stats:
I am a strange transfer student because I will have already completed two and a half years. However, I called the admissions office and they said it wouldnt hurt my chances as long as I have a reason for waiting; I give up credit and complete the two year residency requirement. Which of course, I do.
Anyway, I have a bit lower stats than most transfers but I might as well apply.

That's about it.
What about your stats? By the way what did you say in your essay about what experiences you have to bring to the Rice community.
Finally, are you applying anywhere else?

That was long winded but I think I got most of it out.

I currently go to UT-Austin. I am a sophmore with 36 hrs in residence and 12 hrs. from CC during high school. I have a 4.0 GPA. My SAT is 1340 from senoir year in high school. I am a Neurobiology Major who is pre-med.

I also worked part time with my dad's company the past 3 years

Nice. I wish you the best of luck. Are you applying anywhere else or is Rice your first choice?
Also, how do you volunteer 40 hours a week and go to school. I did 20hours of work, 15 hours of volunteering and 19 hours of school for about 2 months and I was about to die. Also, how do can you do those volunteer positions, don't you need a regular job to pay the bills?
Anyway...
Even if you dont get in, UT is a good school and it sounds like you are making the most of it. So, I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

No its 4 hrs per week at the hospitals. Yea rice is my first choice. I figure no place except for rice is worth paying for b/c UT gives such a good education for the price. I have a nutrition business that pays rent and I also work part time for my dads business. The only reason I am considering transferring is b/c I like rice so much but even if I get accepted for transfer I have to evaluate everything. Your ECs are great so Im sure youll get acceptance. tkae care
