Anyone know of a party store or florist near Rice or anywhere in Houston that carries Rice Mylar ballons - or any Rice ballons in school colors?

I would guess that possibly even a local grocery store or Walmart may have them.

They are usually too busy stocking up on aTm, UT, UH and Texas Tech stuff. Worth a shot though.

I came across this:
[bulk collegiate football shapes party supplies - rice university owls mylar 5cs](<a href=“partypro.com domain name is for sale. Inquire now.”>partypro.com domain name is for sale. Inquire now.)

and this

[Amazon.com: Rice Owls Football Balloons 10-Pack: Sports & Outdoors](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003U8U18U/ref=asc_df_B003U8U18U1809316?smid=A2CWBJ6C2P1RWB&tag=shopzilla_mp_1241-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B003U8U18U)

LOL Antarius are you saying that Rice is the ugly step child when it comes to stocking logo stuff?

More like the forgotten child in the city of Houston, when it comes to general athletic apparel.

The selection of Rice stuff is not very good outside of some stores.

It’s sad but true. I remember being very disappointed to find that the Target which is less than two miles from campus had a large selection of A&M and UT merchandise but absolutely nothing Rice-related.

Thanks guys - I did find I could order 10 football mylar balloons online BUT my plan for these balloons may not come to pass and I want ease of return if D doesn’t get in ED. I would purchase them unfilled and hang onto them for next week just in case!!! I have called many places close to campus to no avail thusfar. Was hoping someone had actually seen them somewhere. I will keep trying.

Good luck maidenmom! Hope your D is admitted.

You could try calling Rice Athletics. They usually custom print thunderstix, balloons and a bunch of random Rice stuff. They can either point you to a supplier if you are still interested. (713) 348 - OWLS.

Thanks Antarius - I sure hope so too!!! I would love to go nuts in the college bookstore for Christmas presents!!!

When my DS applied ED 8 years ago (wow, time flies) I ordered a tshirt, hat and car decal from the college store, knowing that I could quietly return them if necessary. Fortunately it was not necessary and it turned out to be a great surprise!

Glad to hear that jym626 - hoping I am not jinxing by preparing for the best and I sure hope I get to surprise her - plan: monitor her email to “hide” any notification until I can get MANY Rice school colored balloons filled which will be the tie around a garden flag (all I could find at Academy) that is dark blue background with the script “R” in white - like a wrapped up scroll with attached card made by me with Rice logo saying “You’re going to be an Owl next year!” Plan: will take to her high school and have delivered to her in class :). At D’s school, there are three Rice ED kids (including my D).

Hope she doesn’t read CC!!! She would definitely recognize this username as me :0

The bookstore has a lot of fun stuff. I will have to go back and restock when my current batch of Rice stuff wears out.

I really like the cheap Rice pens (blue and white) that come in a pack at the bookstore.
Maybe they could mysteriously show up on your daughter’s desk, in her backpack,
on the kitchen table – Also the little Rice owls are cute. I really hope everything falls into place and you’ll soon be sharing good news with us.

Rice pens magically appearing is GOOD! Little Rice Owls - what do they look like??? I may have to make the 45 minute trip to the bookstore!

Yes, I hope to be sharing good news with y’all too!!!

Maindenmom, I hope you get good news this week. However, please keep the other Rice applicants at your daughters school in mind as well. If not everyone gets in, your lovely surprise could be very hurtful to other kids. Maybe have the balloons/pens/whatever waiting for her at home?

Ricemom - really? This seems like a fun, fair, positive sports kind of thing where you don’t keep score so there are no losers - which I don’t buy into. Competition is a good thing and celebrating victories is the prize. I can tell you this - if my D doesn’t get in and any of the other kids do AND their parents deliver something to school for them, my D would be happy for them.

After reading my post, it comes off a bit harsh - haven’t had my coffee yet! You needn’t worry because it seems the decisions come at the end of the day and my D will get it before I could surprise her at school.

Also, the other two kids at D’s school who applied ED are very good friends of hers - they would all be happy for each other even if they don’t all get in.

Just to follow up b/c I am a total dork. D is exempt from all but one final on Monday and won’t even be in school today or tomorrow!!!

Mom…please don’t. I’m probably not going to get in anyway.
